Patricia “Pat” A. Fayer went home to be with the Lord on January 9th, 2015 at the age of 85. She was a proud southerner for twenty years, although she originally hailed from Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. She was born to Harold and Elizabeth Smoose. Pat graduated from Saint Thomas Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She then pursued a successful career as an operating room nurse. Shortly after she retired from nursing in 1995, she began her second career as a public relations specialist at Pickens’ Palmetto Dry Cleaners. There, her outgoing spirit thrived as she forged lively friendships with all those she encountered. During her twenty years in South Carolina, Pat enjoyed reconnecting with her sister, Betty, and her family. Whether embarking on grand adventures or daily activities, Pat valued the closeness she acquired in her relationships with her nieces, nephews, and their families. She was a proud mother to four children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Her daughters Linda Fayer and Patricia Gibson have also both pursued careers in nursing. Her sons, Chris Fayer and Dan Fayer both graduated from Michigan State University, where Dan met his wife Joanne. Pat was known to brag about her grandchildren, Eric, Abby, Katie, Zach, Kelsey, Erica, and Adam as well as her great-grandchildren Evelynn, Beau and Christine. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, and her grandson Zach. In addition to her love of sports, Pat’s life was marked by love and service to others. She devoted much time to a broad range of charitable and religious organizations, her favorite being Meals on Wheels. A mass will be held as a celebration of her life at 1:00 PM on Monday January 12th at Holy Cross Church in Pickens, SC. A Rosary will be at 12:15pm. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels. PO Box 184; Easley, SC 29640 | www.pcmow.org/donations/ | Dillard Funeral Home is assisting the Fayer family.
