Ray was born on January 22, 1939, in Easley, son of the late Columbus Walter and Beulah Hammond Pace. Ray was a US Air Force veteran who served in the Air Crash and Rescue Squad. He retired from the Easley Fire Department after over 20 years of service. He also retired from Newton's Ace Hardware, having worked there for 26 years. Ray was a faithful member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and the Lucille Searcy Sunday school class.
He is survived by three beloved children, Amanda Pace Edwards (Shane) of Clover, SC, Anna Pace Yarborough (Alex) of Ocoee, FL, and Nathan Scott Pace of Easley, SC. He also leaves behind two devoted grandchildren, Andrew Ray Pace Edwards of Clover, SC and Ava Caroline Yarborough of Ocoee, FL; and one loving sister, Carolyn Pace Rampey of Easley, SC.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 8, 2021, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, with Ray's life-long friend and pastor, Rev. Jeff Childress officiating.
