

Born in Queens, New York, he was the son of the late Karl Schneider and Elisabeth Schussler Schneider.
Ray is a native New Yorker and earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute (now part of New York University) where he was a member of the Pershing Rifles. Upon graduation he served in the Corps of Engineers of the United States Army. He earned the Professional Engineer license in multiple states and was a life member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers). He later earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Long Island University – C.W. Post Campus.
He had a varied professional career including executive-level positions at Fluor and Luwa Bahnson while specializing in the sales, design and management of clean room construction projects across the globe. Clean rooms are engineered spaces that maintain a very low concentration of airborne particulates to isolate and control contamination.
In semi-retirement he transitioned to a professorship at the School of Construction Science and Management at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. He actively mentored many students who have gone on to roles in industry across the United States and Asia.
He was a man of many interests; golf, sailing, bridge, Sudoku, photography, chess, World War II history and was a charter member and served as Treasurer of Faith Lutheran Chapel in Pickens.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Danielle Elaine Schneider; daughter, Karen LaMarche (Raymond); daughter, Jahnna Reck (Terence); and Damon Schneider (Emily); Grandchildren: Garrett LaMarche, Ethan LaMarche, Kerri LaMarche, Elaina Reck, Gabrielle Rosso-Thompson, Ava Barnett, Dawson Schneider; One great grandchild on the way with the due date being on Ray's birthday, July 8, 2026.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Arno Schneider.
The family will have a private service with a gathering to be scheduled at a later date.
