Mr. Richard "Dick" McCall Sr.

Richard was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina on April 21, 1939 to the late Joseph Butler and Rebecca ‘Bessie’ Teague McCall. He was an avid reader, an intense fisherman, and a devoted Carolina football fan. Richard had been sober for 40 years, and spent time as a mentor and sponsor for others in AA. He owned his own Brick Masonry business and spent the last years before retirement as a Bus Driver for the Pickens County School District. Above all else he loved his family, and was a loving husband, father, and devoted Papa.

Mr. McCall is survived by his loving wife of 36 years: Mary Anne Gillespie McCall; three sons: Richard McCall Jr. (Donna), Gary McCall (Melissa) , and Joseph McCall (Tiffany); two daughters: Rose Tapp and Kathy Nuckolls; two sisters: Faye Rogers and Linda Ferguson; one brother: Leroy McCall (Patty); 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by one daughter: Patricia Griffith; one sister: Louella Watts; and two brothers: Y.J. McCall and William ‘Bill’ McCall.

A service to honor the life of Richard will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2023 in the Mausoleum at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7:00PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, February 10, 2023 at Dillard Funeral Home.

Friends and family are invited to dine with the family at Peter’s Creek Baptist Church in Marietta at 4:00 PM prior to the visitation.
