A lifelong learner and teacher, Bob graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Animal Science and Business and later earned a Master’s degree in Agriculture Education from Clemson University. He dedicated 33 years of service to Clemson University Extension Service, where he played a vital role in shaping the growth and development of youth across the Upstate through 4-H clubs and community outreach.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. As a 4-H leader in the 1980s and 1990s, Bob developed a passion for computers and embraced the challenge of helping others understand emerging technology. His love of teaching extended throughout his life, including his work as a certified CPR instructor with the American Red Cross and his involvement with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Furman University.
Bob had a deep appreciation for the world around him and a gift for sharing it with others. In his younger years, he was an avid scuba diver and instructor. He was also a lifelong photographer, specializing in nature photography. In retirement, he traveled extensively, capturing the beauty of the National Parks through his lens. His legacy includes thousands of photographs, as well as his contributions to photography workshops, conferences, and local groups such as the Clemson Photo Club and Carolina Nature Photography Association (CNPA). Bob was also a devoted and long serving member of the Dacusville Lions Club.
A faithful Clemson fan and beloved Country Santa Elf, Bob brought humor, joy, curiosity, and kindness to all who knew him. His life was defined by his passion for teaching, his generosity in sharing knowledge, and his love for family, community, and the natural world.
