Robert was born in Pickens, South Carolina on February 19,1947 to the late Arnold Basco and Neoshia Davis Carter. He was called by many of his friends "Jay Bird" because of his admiration for birds, and loved attending auctions, to add to his collections of "things". Mr. Carter was member of Bread of Tabernacle Church in Belton SC, and loved the church family like his own family. He was an Automotive Repairer in the Army for five years and retired from the the Department of Transportation.
Mr. Carter is survived by three brothers: Floyd Carter (Diane), Aaron Carter (Cynthia) and Ivy Carter; one sister: Jean Carter Grant (Asa); a sister in law: Betty Carter and a brother in law: Roger Kelley. He is also survived by his extended family and caregivers: Pastor Michael Epps and his wife, Deborah.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two brothers: JT Carter, and Alvin Carter: two sisters: Martha Carter Kelley, and Earlene Carter.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 2:00 PM , at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 Gentry Memorial Highway Pickens, SC 29671.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bread of Tabernacle Church, 510 O Neal Street, Belton, SC 29627, in care of Pastor Michael Epps.
