He was born on April 14, 1940 in Dacusville SC to the late Will and Mattie Julian of Easley, SC. After graduating high school, he served in the Air Force where he learned the communication skills to provide for a long career with Bell South/AT&T. He retired early to explore the mountains and make music with his father, uncles and friends. He was extremely intelligent, and it was often jokingly said Robert could make a nuclear reactor out of a clothes hanger.
Surviving is his son Danny Julian (Mandy) of Willow Spring, NC, three granddaughters Rebekah Benfield (Jonathan), Emily Julian and Natalie Julian, his sister Elaine Cockcroft (John) of Powdersville, SC and his brother Kent Julian (Kathy) of Mauldin, SC.
He was predeceased by his wife Gaynelle Juilan, daughter Donna Julian and his sister Jeanette Anthony (Kenneth).
A graveside service will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 10 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1623 Hester Store Road, Easley, SC 29640.
