Easley, SC – Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Corne Black, age 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 6, 2022. Mrs. Black was born in Pickens County, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late Horace E. Corne and Ruby Elizabeth Gibson Corne and devoted wife of 60 years to Kenneth Ray Black.
Survivors in addition to her husband include a son Doyle Ray Black (Tammy Lane) from Easley, South Carolina and a daughter Lisa Norris (James “Tater”) from Pickens, South Carolina.
Mrs. Black was predeceased by a sister Mary Ann Seigle and a grandchild David Ray Black.
Mrs. Black was a lovely and lively person. She loved to aggravate and instigate. Stir the pot. She first and foremost loved the Lord and was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a fisher woman who would catch anything that would bite. The children will be greatly missing her cube steak and gravy, strawberry cobblers and chocolate cakes. Mrs. Black was loved by all that knew her and will be missed dearly by her family.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 1:30 PM at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel 2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy Pickens, South Carolina 29671 with a visitation occurring Tuesday night at the funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM. The Reverend Zach Shaw will be officiating .
The Jones Avenue Baptist Church Choir is invited to be seated with the family as special guests.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate www.hospiceoftheupstate.com. The family would like to take this time to thank the many caregivers from hospice that gave very precious and loving care to our mother.
