Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer “E.E.” and Beulah Williams Rice. Mrs. Childress was retired from Alice Manufacturing, where she worked at the Ellison Plant for over 25 years. She loved her family and everything Elvis.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Ann Childress; one sister, Deborah Orr; one brother, Malcolm Rice; seven grandchildren, Kristi Garren (Joe), Nicole Childress-Guzman (Gregorio), Matt Childress (Cassandra), Melissa Childress, Brandy Harrison (Lonnie), Holly Kennedy and Shawn Griffin, and ten great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Childress was also predeceased by her two sons, Terry and Ricky Childress; two brothers, Clyde and Bert Childress, and one sister Betty Sue Childress.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at 10 a.m. in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel, with the Reverend Woodrow Blake officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
The family will be at their respective homes.
