Timothy Mathis

He was born on October 28, 1965, in Pickens, South Carolina, to the late Annie Ruth Gilstrap and Grover Mathis Jr.

Tim had a passion for electronics and loved exploring technology especially remote controlled drones and airplanes. He also enjoyed the thrill of riding dirt bikes. Above all, music was a constant in his life. A self-taught musician, Tim found joy in playing the guitar and drums, with a special love for classic rock. He especially enjoyed learning songs by bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, which he played with pride. All through Tim's life, he enjoyed taking trips to Hunting Island, SC with his parents, and eventually shared the tradition with his children.

Tim is survived by his children: Timothy Mathis (Leanna Owen), Leah Mathis, and Will Mathis; and by his grandchildren: Logan Mathis, Mia Mathis, Teagan Owen, and Addison Owen. He is also survived by his siblings, Mike Mathis and Susan Bright, his uncle Larry Gilstrap, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tim was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Mathis, and his brother-in-law, Will Bright.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Dillard Funeral Home, beginning at 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
