Tommy Dwight Childress

Born in Pickens on March 26, 1932, he was the son of the late Melvin Berry and Annie Cooper Childress. He was a devoted member of Midway Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time outdoors farming and had an appreciation for watching the wildlife on his property. Tommy led a life grounded in faith and family, values which he lovingly instilled in his family.

Tommy is survived by his son, Daniel Berry Childress (Teresa); grandchildren: Michael Childress (Julia), Eric Childress (Annie), Teri Childress, Dwight Childress (Brittany), Dawn Childress, and Erica Mason (Jesse). He also leaves 16 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years, Jessie Faye Childress; sons, Tommy Ray Childress, and John Allen Childress.

A visitation for Tommy will be held Monday, September 15, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, South Carolina. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the chapel with a committal service to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
