Mr. Morris served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 as a master carpenter and was awarded as a sharp shooter. He was a leading light at Oolenoy Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. Troy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He treasured the time that he spent with his family. Troy also enjoyed gardening, reading and golfing.
Mr. Morris is survived by his loving wife Ruth of 66 years: two children: Jane Gilcrease (Steve) and Tim Morris (Cindy). He is survived by a number of loving grandchildren: T.R. Morris (Jessica), Rebecca Robinson (Michael), Catherine Kalinovich (Jarrad), Elizabeth Hitt along with a number of most precious great grandchildren: Jeremy, Adriana, Grace, Audrey, Karsyn and Kase. Also surviving is a sister: “Tootsie” Hayes (Brandon) and a sister-in-law Audrey Morris.
Troy was predeceased by his parents and siblings: Ed, Viola, Folger, Ruby, Dwayne, Bobbie Ruth, Helen, Curtis and Diane.
The family will be having a funeral service on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway Pickens, South Carolina 29671. A visitation will be held before the service starting at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Mr. Morris will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park following the service.
