Velma Gore, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at 10:14 a.m. She was 91 years old.
Born on September 13, 1934, Mrs. Gore was known for her kindness, resilience, and grace. She was the heart of her family — a nurturing presence who provided comfort, strength, and unconditional love to all who knew her.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Deidra Short of Franklin, North Carolina, and her great-granddaughter, Emily Roach of Cookeville, Tennessee, along with family friends who will cherish her memory.
To her loved ones, Velma was affectionately known as “Nanny.” She was a guiding light — a mother, an aunt, a sister, a spouse — and above all, a home for those she loved. She endured life’s challenges with quiet strength, never letting hardship dim her spirit. Velma found joy in simple things: a warm cup of coffee, a blooming flower, a fluttering butterfly. Her faith in the Lord and her love for life touched everyone around her. She embodied the grace and dignity of a true Southern woman — intelligent, kind, forgiving, and strong.
Her family remembers her not with sadness, but with gratitude for the love and wisdom she shared. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. Whenever a flower blooms, a butterfly flutters, or a star twinkles in the night sky, her loved ones will be reminded of her everlasting presence.
Velma Gore’s legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on through those she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
