Verner Smith

Verner was born on May 28, 1937, in Rocky Bottom, to the late Bruce and Ira Galloway Smith. He retired as butcher for Ingles after many years of working there. Verner enjoyed serving at his church as a deacon and the treasure for over thirty years. He also loved to be outside camping, fishing, or watching Clemson football.

Verner is survived by two daughters: Pamela Denise Smith (Jimmy), and Crystal Lynne Dyar (Tim); four grandchildren: Ryan Smith (Jody), Jackilyn Grate (Andrian), Blake Dyar (Brittany), and Brandon Dyar (Kelsey); five great grandchildren: Lyric, A.J., Andrea Grate, Jonathan and Khloe Dyar.

In addition to his parents, Verner was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley Smith; two brothers: Bruce Smith Jr. and Adgar Smith.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Scott Smith for the care of Verner in the families absence.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home.

The family will receive friend prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45 PM in the Garden Room.

Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Dillard Funeral Home is assisting the Smith family with their arrangements.
