

James David “Cookie” Cook, 70 of Brenton, WV passed away Thursday morning, June 16, 2016 at the McGuire Veteran’s Hospital in Richmond, VA Born March 8, 1946 in Gallipolis, OH, he was the son of the late Aaron Oley “Jack” Cook and Patsy Marie Cook. He was a 1964 graduate of Pineville High School; and served in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked as a truck driver for numerous coal companies and was last employed with Big Justice Construction. A mechanic and handyman who enjoyed talking to people and never met a stranger. He would help anyone in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Sally Miller. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 43 years, Patsy; a daughter, Tamela and John Whitt of Goodview, VA; and a son, Anthony Todd and Heather Cook of Princeton, WV. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, Jacob, Shane, Wyatt and Bryan. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives, Thomas and Diana Cook, Michael and Peggy Cook, Larry Cook all of Pineville, WV and Bradley and Becky Cook of Grandview, WV; father-in-law, Okey and Ellen Miller of Sophia, WV and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Cookie’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard .
