Walter Elkins

Walter George Elkins, Jr.,71, of Pineville passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at Raleigh General Hospital. Born September 7, 1943 at Pineville he was the son of the late Walter George Elkins and Ida Mae Miller Elkins. He was a coal preparation plant supervisor for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Dennis Elkins, two brothers, Elden Elkins and Arlie Elkins and two infant siblings, Calvin and Gladys. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Bowling Elkins of Pineville Son, Paul Gregory Elkins of Pineville Daughter, Angela Rae Elkins of Pineville Daughter-in-law, Linda Kazman of Oceana Brother, Herbert Joe Elkins and wife, Janice of Oceana Sisters, Helen Lee Brown and Anna Ruth Brown both of Oceana and Rosie Phares and her husband, Eddie of Circleville Grandchildren, Emmalee Elkins, Seaman Zach Elkins, Jeffrey Kyle Elkins & wife, Kasey, and Alexander Elkins A celebration of Walter’s life will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2014 in the Calfee Funeral Service Chapel with Karen McClanahan, CLP officiating. Entombment will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Friday until the time of the service.
