

Betty Jane (Skinner) Foster, age 96 of Zelienople, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. She was born August 12, 1921 in Templeton, PA, a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Jane Skinner. She was the beloved wife of the late John A. “Jack” Foster; loving mother of Marcia Foster, David (Sue) Foster and the late Jerry Foster. In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jared Foster; as well as a brother, PFC. Harold H. Skinner and two sisters, Vivi Smeltzer and Peggy Smeltzer.
Betty was a devout Lutheran and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Highland, where she was a longtime member of the Alter Guild. During her time at Passavant Retirement Community, she served as the treasure and secretary of the Seaman Memorial Chapel. She was very giving of her time and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and while at Passavant, she volunteered with Compassionate Friends and at the Gift Shop. Betty was a 50 year member of the Longvue Women’s Club and formerly worked as a secretary at State Farm. She will be remembered by her friends and family as an excellent cook who loved to entertain.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 10:30am in the Seaman Memorial Chapel at Passavant Retirement Community. Friends will then be received Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm in the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Hwy, Ross Twp., 412-364-4444. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations in Betty’s memory to your favorite charity.
