

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Martello on April 22, 2025 at the age of 90. Bob was born on July 2, 1934 in Turtle Creek, PA to John and Rose (D'urso) Martello.
After graduating from Turtle Creek High School, Bob attended Duquesne University to study pharmacy. While working at Raugh Pharmacy as a pharmacist, his mentor, Charlie Raugh, inspired him to pursue a master's degree in pharmacology. He enrolled in a program at the University of Pittsburgh where he met his wife Jacqueline (Jackie) Sanford. Upon graduation, Bob worked as a phytochemist at Eli Lily in Indianapolis, Indiana. After returning to Pittsburgh, Bob accepted a position at Passavant Hospital as the Director of Pharmacy where he worked for over 25 years, during which time, he obtained his doctorate degree at Duquesne University and taught pharmacology at LaRoche College.
Bob leaves behind his children, James (Anne) Martello, Pattie Martello, and John (Amy) Martello, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; his sister JoAnne (Emerson) Dietrich; four nieces and nephews; and his long-time companion, Bobbie Knapp.
He is predeceased by his wife Jackie, brother Jimmy and his parents.
Those who knew Bob will remember him for his sense of humor; love of music, chess and sports; and his colorful stories about growing up in Turtle Creek.
Visitation will be held for Bob Martello on Friday from 12-4 PM at H.P Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway Pittsburgh PA 15237. A Blessing Service will take place immediately following at 4 PM. Deacon Michael Deem will officiate. Interment will be at Allegheny County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's name to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
