On Thursday, June 22, 2023, Christan Marie (Schmigel) Ivanisin left us too soon at the early age of 54. Loved and cherished by her husband Mark, she was met at Heaven’s Gate by her late father Louis Schmigel, grandmother Jean Schmigel, and Mother-in-Law Dolores Ivanisin. Known by most as Chrissy, she leaves behind her husband, Mark Ivanisin; mother Marilyn (Schmigel) Bozich; loving siblings, Donna (Mark) Schmigel-Irgang, Louis (Tanya) Schmigel, Brian (Patty) Schmigel, Melissa (Justin) Martin, Christopher (Karen) Bozich, Stephanie Chestnut (James Quatman), Collette (Donald) Nolan; and her adored nephews and nieces Austin, Alexis, Luke, Ryan, Grace, and Emma Schmigel, Abigail and Kendall Martin, and Evan and Emily Bozich. She also leaves numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Chrissy enjoyed life most by giving her love, time, and support to her family, many friends, and neighbors. She always looked for and brought out the best in everyone. Cleaning, organizing, and decorating were the hobbies at which she excelled. She took immense pleasure in playing video slot machines and watching people at the casino for entertainment. Her never-ending stories brought great joy and laughter to everyone, and her personality made her someone whom you wanted to be around.
Chrissy accomplished numerous things in her lifetime such as her degree in Accounting, her involvement in leading a US Army Family Readiness Group, and her efforts in saving her husband’s life and recovery from COVID. But her greatest accomplishment of all is being so loved and respected by those she touched. She will always be missed and never forgotten.
Those wishing to visit and bid Chrissy farewell are welcome to visit the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh on Wednesday, June 28th and Thursday, June 29th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, June 30th at the funeral home, followed by a procession to her final resting place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
