Denise Lynn Deffner

Denise was born on January 29, 1960 in Pittsburgh to Denis and the late Jean (Ruyak) Bedel. When Denise was 27 she received a groundbreaking surgery through UPMC which forever changed her life for the better due to her epilepsy. She graduated from business school and pursued a career for many years as a paralegal. In addition to her career, she enjoyed babysitting and being involved in Ascension Lutheran Church. Denise also became the caregiver to her late Uncle Walter Bedel Jr.

She is survived by her father Denis, brother Mark (Betsy) and Brian Bedel; nieces and nephews Marisa (Gavin), Evan (Maddie), Anthony, Gianna, Sean and Gabriella and great nephew Patrick John. In addition to her mother and uncle, she is preceded in death by her loving chocolate lab Brandy.

A Memorial visitation will be held for Denise on September 14, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at H.P Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh PA 15237.
