Dolores C. Russell, age 91, died peacefully on June 2, 2018 in her room at the Vincentian Home. Affectionately known and loved by her family as “Aunt Doot” and by her friends as “Dee”. She was born on February 25, 1927 as the 10th child of her beloved mother, Rose Ulrich Russell whom she loved dearly, cared for, and fondly remembered for the rest her life. Dolores worked for 38 years as a telephone operator and manager at Bell Atlantic (AT&T) before retiring at age 55. She served as the President of her chapter of the Telephone Pioneers. In her retirement she gave freely of her time, volunteering at Holy Spirit Church, where among other things, she was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Christian Mothers. She lived a life of service and experienced great joy by loving others, caring for the needy, and sponsored a very poor family in the Philippines who often wrote her letters of gratitude. She was also a very passionate Pittsburgh sports fan, so she especially appreciated the recent Penguins and Steelers championship seasons. Dolores was the last survivor of her siblings. Dolores is survived by 3 Godchildren who cared for her and will always be grateful for her prayers and love, Dolores Erdlen, Jimmy Russell, and David Profozich, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a cousin. She also had a 4th Godchild, Jane Binder, who died at a young age. Her family will remember her as a kind and gentle woman who was the rock of the family. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Healy-Hahn Funeral Home, Inc., 512 Grant Ave, Millvale, 412-821-2940.
