Dolores May Vazzana

Age 91, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Survived by her loving sisters Mary Rose Limmer and Sylvia (Joseph) Gange. Dede’s legacy of love lives on in her nieces and nephews Marie (Rick) Riccardi, Victoria (Joseph) Waple, Karl (Carol) Limmer, Nancy Riordan, Ken (Denise) Limmer, Mary Jo Limmer, Rose Ann (Rick) Milbert, Joann Gange Straessley, Joseph (Chris) Gange, and Michael (Tracy) Gange; 21 grand nieces and nephews and their children; and many dear friends, including George and Vickie Linkhauer, Jeff and Nancy Kammersell, Jane Sestric and the members of the Incarnation of the Lord/Nativity choirs. She is predeceased by her sister Domenica “Mayme” Theodore.

Dede was born in Pittsburgh on July 15, 1930 to her beloved parents Salvatore and Rose Vazzana. She graduated from Annunciation High School in 1948. Dede enjoyed her career and colleagues at the PA Department of Motor Vehicles and in the Register of Wills office. With a sparkle in her eye, she told her nieces and nephews that she put the bubbles in the ginger ale when she worked at Canada Dry.

Dede was a longtime member of Incarnation of the Lord Church, formerly Nativity, where she loved to sing in the choirs, a small but mighty songstress. She was a natural for the musicals Nativity produced; not only did she act and sing, she walked on stage after the shows to tell stories and jokes, many times to standing ovations. Dede delighted in a good joke, and always had one to share. She loved her late cat, Missy, and keeping her flower garden beautiful. Known for her delicious holiday cookie tray, she would reliably feed visitors with a comforting bowl of buttered noodles and a cup of tea.

Friends will be received on Monday, January 10, 2022, from 2:00PM – 4:00PM and 6:00PM – 8:00 PM at the H. P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc.1032 Perry Hwy. Pittsburgh, PA 15237. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday January 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish – St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church Ross Township. Interment will follow at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery.
