Donald C Green

Donald C Green, age 98, passed away on April 9, 2026. Born on April 20, 1927, Donald was beloved, humorous, honest, and kind-hearted throughout his long life. He was a resident of Ligonier, Pennsylvania and former 50 year resident of West View .

Don grew up in the Northside of Pittsburgh and graduated from Perry High School, though his schooling was interrupted when he was taken out to serve in the US Navy during World War 2. His service and dedication marked the beginning of a life defined by responsibility, perseverance, and care for others.

For 31 years, Don worked as a Coil Winder at Allis Chalmers. He approached his work with the same steady character that shaped every part of his life—reliable, straightforward, and always grounded in integrity.

Don was married to the late Mary (Hiergeist) Green for 69 years, a remarkable partnership and enduring bond that remained central to his life and family. He is survived by his children Don Green (Gerry) and Nancy Roderick (David). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Ashley Pillon (Matt), Austin Green (Soyeon), Abbey Green (Dennis), Sean Hunter (Fatima), and Rachel Hunter (Nick), as well as three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Emilia, and Nicole.

In his personal time, Don found joy in simple pleasures and creative pastimes. He loved to golf, crocheting, jewelry making, playing Super Nintendo, and scratching lottery tickets—interests that reflected both his playful spirit and his patient, hands-on nature. Don’s humor and kind heart were evident in everyday moments, and he will be remembered with deep respect and affection by all who knew him.

Friends will be received at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home 1032 Perry Hwy Pittsburgh PA 15237 ON Monday April 13th from 10- 12 Noon with a service following. Burial will be private
