He was born on October 24, 1934 to the late John H. Fichter and Beatrice Rupp Fichter. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy. On October 16, 1987, he married Judith A. Laub Fichter, who survives him. He retired as a machinist at Short Ridge Instruments in Scottsdale, AZ in 1999. He enjoyed locksmithing, woodwork, and listening to country-western music.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Edward Fichter (Ruth), Linda Meyer (Jerry), Bryan Fichter (Geri), and Joey Hibner (Jeff); two siblings, John Fichter (Sue) and Marge Joneikis; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Harry Fichter, Terri Adelsberger, and Joan DeLorenze; three brothers-in-law, Roy DeLorenze, Howard Adelsberger, and Henry Joneikis; sister-in-law, Barb Fichter; and his beloved dogs, Bo and Rachel.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Saturday, March 1 from 1 PM to 4 PM and from 6 PM to 7 PM and the service beginning at 7 PM at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Hwy., Pittsburgh, PA 15237; cremation to follow at a later date.
