

Peacefully at home on July 3, 2014, Evelyn Brennan Donovan, 91 of Bellevue. Ever proud of her Irish heritage and gifted with natural grace, wit, dignity and charm. She was born on October 27, 1922, in the West End, the daughter of the late John and Hilda (Breen) Brennan. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert T. Donovan and her beloved son Robert T. Donovan Jr. (Susan) of Harlem, GA. Sister of Hilda Richter of Crafton and the late Mary, Thomas and John Brennan. Devoted mother of Edward Donovan (Jerome D’Angelo) of Blackridge, Joyce Donovan of Bellevue and Lea Ann Reilly of Ross Twp; grandmother of Brennan (Lauren) and Megan Reilly of Pittsburgh, Matthew of Washington, DC, Melanie (Decker) of Harlem, GA and the late Shawn Edward and Michael Patrick Donovan; great-grandmother to Clayton, Dylan and Daniel Decker of Harlem, GA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A graduate of St. James High School in the West End, Evelyn began her working career as an operator for the Bell Telephone Company. After raising her children and attending nursing school she worked at the original John Kane Hospital in Bridgeville. She later worked extensively as a private duty nurse, caring for many prominent Pittsburgh residents, and operated one of the first licensed personal care boarding homes in Pennsylvania. Evelyn was a member of Church of the Epiphany Parish in Pittsburgh and a supporter of Veterans rights and animal welfare groups.
Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm in the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc., 1014 California Ave, 412-766-5600. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10am in the Church of the Epiphany.
