Frank Tavella

Frank A. Tavella, 74, passed away on June 9, 2023 in Wexford, PA. Frank was born to the late Pasquale and Caterina Tavella on Christmas Eve of 1948 in Maierato, Vibo Valentia, Italy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Frank Tavella, Jr., and his brother, Carmen Tavella.

Frank’s family came to the United States when he was just eight years old. It was here in the States that he would eventually meet the love of his life, Mary. They built a life together raising three beautiful children, Frank Jr., Erin, and Christina. Frank’s strong work ethic led him to start his own successful dry cleaning business, which he operated for many years. Though he took great pride in his work, he also loved to spend time on the golf course, relax on beach vacations, and listen to music, especially the “oldies.” Most importantly, he enjoyed family dinners every Sunday made with his favorite “Sunday sauce” and a glass of red wine.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Mary Tavella; his children, Erin Derenzo (Joseph) and Christina Meinbresse (Dale); his grandchildren, Anthony, Gianna, and Carmella Derenzo and Lillian and Hudson Meinbresse; his siblings, Teresa Scolieri and Paul Tavella; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Monday, June 12 and Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 10am at Saints John & Paul Catholic Church, 2586 Wexford Bayne Road, Sewickley, PA 15143. Everyone please meet at church. Interment to follow at West Union Cemetery.
