Hunter William Solo 11/7/1995-11/8/2020

On November 7, 2020 Hunter joyously celebrated his 25th birthday with friends and family in Pittsburgh, PA., surrounded by the glowing warmth and the embrace of ones he loved. On November 8, 2020, he departed this plane for the next, ad for those he left behind- parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles, nephews, nieces, and friends- the stars look very different today; planet earth is still blue, yet there is nothing we can do. Hunter shared our lives here in this space and place for far too short a time. And though he passed 100 thousand miles in this life: from Alaska to Connecticut, Massachusetts to Arizona, Montana to California, Tennessee, Mississippi and Pennsylvania, he is still at last. Those that remain earthbound today love Hunter very much, with every breath in our bodies and souls, and will love him this way, always. He created and shared with everyone his charm and charisma, his character and his humor. From his 'colorful' wire-work art and bawdy poetry; to late night sojourns with his mother or fellow Marines; and road trips with his family; Hunter brought laughter, mirth, thoughtfulness and irony to all of our shared encounters. He possessed a light that shined so strong and filled every room he entered. Hunter, how I wish you were here. In the Jetstream behind you, we are lost souls. It seems everything serves as a reminder of you. But you are not here, and we do not know where to find you. We are and will be running over the same old ground of these same old fears- wishing you were here. Yesterday, November 10, was the Marine Corp Birthday. Today, Hunter wears his Marine Dress blues for Marines, Airmen, Soldiers, and Seamen, past and present; six of whom are his father, sisters, and brothers-in-law. And for the veterans of injuries concealed, we celebrate Hunter and November 11. He was a Proud U.S. Marine. He was a strong Army Soldier. All our light that shines strong only lasts for so long.

Hunter was one of my best friends. Miguel and I owe a majority of our life experience in the Marines to him. While they both chose a different path, the leader I have become is owed to the friendship I shared with Hunter. He is, and always will be, family to me. Many people pass through our lives but few leave an impact. Hunter definitely left an impact. I love you man and regret not being there as much as I could have. To his family, know you are not alone in your grief. Though this a difficult time, I must thank you for the young man who blessed my life. Semper Fidelis, Hunter. Till Valhalla
