

Jean E. Bauer, 93, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 25, 2026. Born on October 29, 1932, Jean’s life was marked by steadfast resilience, a generous spirit, and a warmth that made her deeply beloved and cherished by those who knew her. Even in life’s ordinary moments, her humor had a way of bringing lightness and comfort to the people around her.
Raised on the North Side of Pittsburgh, Jean graduated from Allegheny High School. The roots she formed there—grounded in family, community, and enduring determination—remained a quiet strength throughout her life.
Jean was devoted to raising her family, giving of herself with constancy and care. She was married to the late Robert Joseph Bauer Sr. for 47 loving years, a partnership remembered with gratitude and respect by all who witnessed the life they built together.
Jean is survived by her children, Robert Joseph Bauer Jr., Jean Kelly (Edward), and Marsha Bauer; her grandchildren, Stephen Arendosh (Kelly) and Michael Arendosh (Rebecca); and her great-grandchildren, Austin, Kylee, Avery, Zachary, Elijah Arendosh. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margaret Schuman, and her brother, Edward.
Jean found joy in the experiences that brought beauty and connection—travel, concerts, shopping, and going out to eat. She especially loved symphonies and plays, and she took simple, steady pleasure in doing crossword puzzles in the paper, a reflection of her lively mind and enduring spirit.
Jean will be remembered with deep affection and respect—cherished for her generosity, admired for her resilience, and loved for the humor and heart she so freely shared. Her memory will remain a lasting comfort to her family and all who held her dear.
Friends will be received at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home 1032 Perry Hwy Pittsburgh PA 15237 on Monday June 1st from 11AM - 1:30 PM with a Mass of Christian burial following at 2PM at St. Teresa of Avila Church 800 Avila Ct Pittsburgh PA 15237. Interment will take place at St. Mary's of Mt. Troy Cemetery
