Joseph R. Vacek

Joseph R. Vacek, age 80, of Avalon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. Beloved husband of 59 years to Janice (Zajackowski) Vacek; loving father of Gina Funk (Jeff), Michael Vacek (Gina), Steve Vacek (Jennifer), Ann Kuszajewski (Gregg), and Frank and the late Joseph Vacek. Proud Pap of 10 grandchildren. Brother of Fr. Carl Vacek, Sandra Burns (Donald), and Patricia Hodgson; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In his retirement, given his love for children, Joe drove a school van for W.L. Roenigk. As an accomplished musician, he performed with numerous jazz groups and composed his own works. He was passionate about the accordion, an instrument he collected, restored and played masterfully.

Friends received 12pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm Sunday at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc., 1014 California Ave., Avalon, 412-766-5600. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Emsworth, on Monday 10:30am. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH).
