Judith R. Atchison, 69, died peacefully in her home on the morning of December 10, 2021. Judi is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bruce, who was by her side until her passing; her two sons and their spouses, Barry and Katie of Philadelphia, PA, and Curtis and Deanna of Pittsburgh; her two granddogs, Quinton and Easton; and countless other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved father Paul H. Rittle, her mother Lois S. Rittle, and her brother Paul. H. Rittle, Jr.
Judi was born on February 27, 1952, in Pittsburgh, and lived much of her life in McCandless Township. She graduated from North Allegheny High School and then attended Davis & Elkins College, where she met Bruce. Elkins, West Virginia, remained a special place to Judi and Bruce for the rest of their lives.
Judi was a sharp businesswoman. She was a realtor and a member of the Realtors Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh. She and Bruce worked side by side for 43 years as owners of Atch-Mont Real Estate in Pittsburgh's Northside. Judi was also a notary and an active member of the Northside Development Committee.
A woman of faith, Judi was a longtime member of Memorial Park Church and cherished the time she spent with her women's bible study group. Throughout her life, she had many hobbies and interests—from camping trips with Bruce early in their marriage, to quilting and crocheting, to horseback riding and bike riding. Judi enjoyed being at the ocean, having a glass of wine or champagne with friends, and taking in plays and local productions in Pittsburgh.
Judi loved every moment she spent at the family's cabin on the Youghiogheny Lake. Boating, swimming, and sunsets made up some of her favorite moments there. But simply taking in the peace and beauty of "Paradise Cove” was just as special.
Because of her kindness and generosity, Judi made an impression on everyone she met. She was always there to listen, to lend a hand, and to open her heart. Judi's greatest joy was the time she spent with her husband, sons, and other family and friends, and it was also the greatest gift she could have given to her loved ones.
A memorial service and celebration of Judi's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road, Allison Park, PA, 15101. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the AHN Cancer Institute at Allegheny General Hospital, where Judi was a patient for 13 years.
