Born April 12, 1955, Judi was the youngest of 10 sisters and brothers, needless to say of Irish Catholic parents, Michael Patrick and Margaret Ann Donovan. Family was always very important to her; she grew up alongside many of her sisters' children.
In 1984 Judi underwent a kidney transplant. Her sister Marge, 20 years her senior, was the living donor. Judi and Marge had to travel to Philadelphia to have the transplant. When Judi returned home, she didn't let the huge life changing operation stop her.
For the next 38 years she raised her children, worked at a dry cleaner, then managed GNC's, and was a nanny. She retired a few years ago but that didn't slow her down. She had recently been a nanny for two families who absolutely adored her.
Being on anti-rejection drugs for the past 38 years for her kidney took a toll on her body. Unless you were close to her you wouldn’t realize the multiple health problems these drugs caused. She was the energizer bunny, always ready to go on an adventure. She loved to travel and dining out with family and friends, especially breakfast. She loved music, the kind of music most grandmas don't listen to. Her current favorite was Lizzo. At any point in time if you pulled up next to her in her car you would hear Ludicrous, Outcast, Drake, plus various others blaring through her speakers. At any wedding or big party, she'd be one of the first on the dance floor. All who met her fell under her magical spell.
Judi is survived by her three children Ken (Tiia) Lager Jr of Mt Lebanon, PA; Kelly (Marty) Yocca of Clarion, PA and Kevin Lager of Pittsburgh, PA. Her only grandchild is Cooper John Lager, son of Ken and Tiia. She fiercely loved her many siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her name to the National Kidney Foundation or the Special Olympics.
