

Asbury Heights after a long illness. Formerly of Pittsburgh, she most recently lived in Scott
Township before moving to Asbury Place and Asbury Heights.
She is survived by her son, Robert Nees, Seattle, WA, a nephew, Robert Himmler,
and a brother-in-law, Robert Himmler. She was preceded in death by her son,
William Nees, her parents, William and Emma Huettner, and her sisters, Susanne
H. Swan and Claudia Himmler.
Judy served as the administrator for the World Affairs Council for many years and
retired from the World Affairs Council, in December 1999. She was a
mentor/teacher to many young people in her work with the World Affairs Council. In
her work at the Council, she coordinated the visits of many high profile visitors to
Pittsburgh including the Dalai Lama, the Secretary of the Navy and the Secretary of
Defense. Judy also led a group of World Affairs Council members on a tour of
China.
She was key member of the launching and commissioning committee for the USS
Pittsburgh (SSN 720), serving as the committee's secretary. She also served as
president, secretary, and board member for the Navy League, Pittsburgh Council.
Judy served as a board member and president of the Jamestown
Condominium Association. Judy had a love of people, travel, current events, and the beach. She was
renowned for her skill in entertaining including preparing and
serving her delicious chocolate pecan pie. She was very proud of her German and
Austrian heritage and especially enjoyed traveling to visit family in Germany and
Austria.
Her family and friends want to express their appreciation for the care provided by
the staff of Asbury Place and Asbury Heights.
Friends received Thursday 4pm-8pm at Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc., 1014 California Ave., Avalon 412-766-5600 where a funeral service will be held Friday 11am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to the World Affairs
Council, 500 Grant St, Pittsburgh, PA, 15219-2510 or the USS Pittsburgh
Scholarship Fund, Navy League, Pittsburgh Council, in care of Mr. Bill Braund,
1097 Covington Place, Allison Park, PA 15101 or a charity of one's choice.
