On May 29, 2020, Lorraine Furgiuele passed away from complications due to a rare disorder she had been diagnosed with just days before her passing. She was a fiery 64 years young. A lifelong Pittsburgh native, Lorraine was the mother of two children. However, many people considered Lorraine their surrogate mother.
Lorraine was an extremely kind-hearted ball of energy and excitedly engaged anyone who would converse in conversation. She loved spending time with her 6 grandchildren, dancing her heart out anytime the opportunity presented itself and taking yearly cross-country RV trips to California with her husband. “Mee-Maw Rain,” as she was known to her own grandkids, loved all children with her whole heart and was immensely proud of her family. She is survived by her husband David and two children: Julie (Tim) Ward and Kristy (Alex) Koplin.
While Lorraine’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. They request that people make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org/helptoday), in lieu of sending flowers.
