Lucy was a loving wife to Reinford “Ray” Fischer, who preceded her in death. She is survived by children, James (Linda) of Ostrander, Ohio; John (Erin Castelli) of Ross; and Heather of Ostrander; granddaughter, Grace, of Ostrander; granddaughter, Sabrina Cline, of Ross; and grandson, Thelio, of Ross and her sister Sue Glasgow, of Avalon, Pittsburgh, PA
She was born Jan. 22, 1942, in Muscatine, Iowa, to John and Martha (Galpin) Glasgow. Her family relocated frequently between Muscatine and Sioux Falls, S.D. while she was growing up.
She graduated from Muscatine Senior High School and from Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa, where she studied English and was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She pursued master’s studies in English at the University of Iowa.
She and Ray settled in Ross, where they raised their family. When her children were young, Lucy was an active room mother, scouting mom, and music and sports mom, always making time for her children’s various activities.
After raising her children, she worked primarily as a church secretary for several churches in the greater north Pittsburgh area.
An active Christian disciple, she was passionate about the partnership between the Pittsburgh Presbytery and the Presbyterian Church in Blantyre, Malawi, Africa. She and Ray traveled to Malawi in 2001 as part of this partnership, following similar trips made by her children John and Heather, about which she was very proud.
She was also passionate about cultural exchange in general, having herself participated in an AFS exchange in France while she was in high school and later hosting an AFS student from Denmark, Christian Elm, who she also considered as a son and his family as her own.
Over the years, she attended and/or was a member of Hiland Presbyterian Church and Heritage Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh and Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Delaware, Ohio.
