Jean, I wanted to express how sorry I am to hear of your Mother's passing.  I spoke with her a few times on the phone when trying to reach you for the reunions.  She was always gracious and more than kind.  Please know I send prayers to you and all of your family.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mary Anne's family!  She was such a sweet lady.  I always enjoyed it when Jeannie would bring her down to visit.  She had such a funny sense of humor, too.  I remember back when Julia was obsessed with rhymes, she called her "Nana Banana?"  To which, Mary Anne replied "Yes, Julia Peculiar?"  May Mary Anne's Family find comfort during this difficult time.

Mary Anne was so vibrantly alive when I visited her in Holy Week, it jolts my heart to see her picture here. I'm grateful for such a lovely memory.  My fond sympathy goes out to Jean, Steve and Julia, and Maggie and Paul.

One more idea, instead of flowers, buy a book, read it, put Mary Anne Ferguson on the inside, and give it to a friend. After they read it, discuss it and continue to pass the book and Mary Anne's love of reading along. This would be the best gift to give in her memory.

Lucy - Our Moms became such wonderful friends when our Dads were in the hospital so many years ago - a cherished freindship. I still read her book from time to time and think of the both of them.

Mary Anne was related to me through her mother, Annie, and my grandmother Orie deForest  who was Annie's sister . Annie came back to live in Charleston in her later years and ate Sunday dinner with us most weeks. I met Mary Anne many times when she visited Charleston and though she was one of the warmest, most interesting people that I knew. I also remember meeting Lucy who visited once and stayed at my Grandmother Orie's apartment. We have all lost a generation of wonderful people

She was a remarkable woman and personal friend. I think of her every day now and will keep her in my heart always.

Best mom a girl could have.  my best friend, I will miss our daily talks and her insights into nearly a century of history.
