

Michael Roger Malatak, 74, died at home on January 31, 2016. Born January 1, 1942 in North Side, PA, he lived in Pittsburgh. Michael served in the United States Military, Infantry Division of the Army. He worked as a Press Operator for Schaffner Manufacturing Company, Inc. at the time of his passing. Prior to working at Schaffner's, he worked at Henry Miller Spring, in Sharpsburg, PA. and was a member of United Steelworkers Union, District 10. He enjoyed umpiring softball, bowling, and golfing until health issues prevented him from participating in such activities. He also enjoyed watching all sorts of sports on tv, such as football and hockey, especially with his granddaughter Alyssa. Michael loved his friends and family, and was always willing to help someone out. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother Ethel Malatak (Visokey), his brother Regis Malatak (Lillian), his sister Mary Darlene (Malatak) Farbaugh (Bill), and his wife Lorraine Therese Malatak. Surviving family members include his brother Gerald Malatak. his children, Robin Malatak Ross (Michael), Lance Malatak (Kristen), and Marie Veneziale. Michael had 6 grandchildren, Justin Ross (24), Kristin Ross (22), Bradley Harker (14), Andrew Harker (10), Angela Veneziale (27), and Alyssa Veneziale (24). Michael also had 3 great grandchildren, Austin (11), Emma (3), and was expecting the third great grandchild in late fall of this year. Michael is also survived multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and by Robin and Lance’s mother, Sara Jane (Malatak) Allison.
Friends received from 4pm to 8pm, Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Inc., 1014 California Avenue, Avalon. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a brief memorial, which will be held at 7pm during the viewing.
