Heartfelt condolences to the family of Colonel Norb Bakas, my friend and fellow guardsman. Norb's life was that of family and military. He was a true patriot who, with a group of veterans, helped build two of the best guard units in the country. It was an honor to serve with him and our Pittsburgh Guard. God Bless Col. Norbert Bakas and his wife, Ginny.
Sincerely,
Joe and Toni Tabacek

Norb was by far the most giving person I ever met, along with his beautiful wife, Ginny. Their goal was to help others. Norb especially loved to instill confidence into every person he met. The hypnosis society was a great example of that. He opened his house to the meetings and worked hard to keep the society active for many decades. I'll forever remember those parties and his exceptional kindness towards me as my young niece was near the end of her life. Norb, you are now with Ginny and your grandson who preceded you in heaven. Rest in peace, Norb!

Norb Bakas was a mentor, a leader, and most certainly encouraged me to pursue a 20 year career instead of bailing out after just under 8 years. He and my Uncle Bill Duffy both were in a small fraternity of WWII Vets who practiced hypnotism.

I had many chats with him while a member of the 112th TFW, and counted him among my friends. While my first thought was to mourn his loss, I choose to celebrate his nearly 96 years on this earth, his accomplishments, and his long and faithful service to God and Country. You are not forgotten. Not by a long shot.

I sat behind Norb Bakas every Sunday at Emanuel's Lutheran Church. As the years flew by, I had the privilege of getting to know him well. He was extremely intelligent and very inspirational. His beliefs often challenged my own and I will miss those discussions most of all. Rest in peace, Norb. Prayers for the wonderful family he leaves behind.

The Bakas Family;
I will always remember Norb. When I joined the Air Guard in 1954, the Col was the one who swore me in. My prayers are with you.
