While staying with Uncle Norman and Auntie Mavis in a relatively remote part of South Africa - a local African man jumped up onto the roof of their bungalow, the roof was made of corrugated iron so he made quite a noise. This was back in the awful era of apartheid in the 80s. It soon became clear the reason he jumped on the roof was because an Afrikaans neighbour was chasing him with a shotgun. Uncle Norman bravely, and authoritatively I might add, stepped in and calmed the situation, convincing the Afrikaans man to put down his gun and gently coaxing the frightened guy, - whose only crime it was to have annoyed his boss - off the roof. Heroic !
