Page Ritchey

Page Calhoun Ritchey, a cherished wife, mother and an invaluable pillar of her community was born on November 19, 1946, in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, to loving parents Alexander Scott Calhoun and Elizabeth Calhoun. Raised in a nurturing and supportive environment, Page's early life laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning, compassion, and dedication.

Page's journey of education began at North Hills High School, where she graduated in 1964. She went on to further her studies at Goucher College, earning her degree in 1968. Her passion for knowledge and books led her to pursue a Master's in Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh, a decision that would profoundly impact both her career and her community.

In 1969, Page married the love of her life, Joseph Michael Ritchey, affectionately known as "Mick." Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. They were blessed with a daughter, Michael Elizabeth Ritchey, who has been a source of immense pride and joy for Page and Mick. Page's professional career was a testament to her dedication and passion for fostering a love of reading and learning in others. For over 40 years, she devoted herself to the Northland Public Library as a children's librarian. Her visionary leadership and commitment to innovation shone brightly in 1984 when she successfully wrote a grant request to the State of Pennsylvania Governor's office, helping establish the library's first computer center. Her work not only enriched the lives of countless children but also left an indelible mark on the community as a whole.

Outside of her professional life, Page found solace and joy in the simple beauty of nature. She had a deep love for gardening and spent countless hours tending to her garden, finding peace and contentment in the outdoors. Though Page’s journey is one deeply rooted in personal achievements, her legacy is equally marked by the relationships she nurtured and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

In accordance with Page’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Page’s memory to the Northland Public Library Foundation, an institution that held a special place in her heart. Page Calhoun Ritchey’s enduring legacy will continue to inspire and touch the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever remain a beacon of love, knowledge, and community spirit.
