We honor Paul for his dedication to his family. We also appreciate his genuine friendship to us and willingness to help us, his neighbors. We recall evenings of companionship, conversation and stories with him on our back porches. We enjoyed Paul’s recounting of tales from the historic sites where he was a docent each winter. There was no one better than Paul with whom to discuss history and trade history books. And so, next spring when we raise our glasses on our porch we will paraphrase his favorite tongue-in-cheek toast by saying, “Paul, here’s mud in your eye. May you live forever in our hearts… and may we never die.”

Thanks for being my big brother. Enjoyed our camping trips and fishing together; even if you always got the biggest fish every time. Miss your daily calls already.

Paul and Terri both volunteered at Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial on South Bass Island in Lake Erie. We all had many hours of happy memories that included work, coffee and baked goods from the Island Bakery, and watching the sun set. Paul made this world a better place with his kindness and sense of humor.

Extending our heartfelt condolences to Paul's extensive family, and wishing you all strength during this difficult time of mourning. We have our fond memories of Paul, with his funny sense of humor, when we gathered with our four young boys, and we were younger adults, maturing into our middle years. What an impressive life of public service Paul led, as well as being a loving and devoted family man. We are saddened by his untimely passing.

It is a rare opportunity in life to know someone as a friend who leaves a mark on your heart. Paul was such a man. His zeal for life and family as well as his knowledge and appreciation of history made Paul a unique storytelling personality. His “talks” at state & national parks held the audience mesmerized. His enthusiasm supported by an infectious smile & wit insured you would never forget this remarkable man. Paul had a love and compassion for people that he followed through with his years of community service. He was that rare combination of a warrior and humble servant. Paul will be sorely missed by all of us fortunate to have known him.
