January 30, 1941 – January 24, 2026
Our family is deeply saddened to share that Paul R. Wood, 84, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Hospice House in Wexford, PA. He left this world gently as a spiritual care nurse sang his favorite hymn.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Paul grew up with a deep appreciation for simple living, hard work, and the beauty of country life. He devoted more than three decades of his career to Horix Manufacturing Co., where he worked as a machinist building assembly line machines for major companies such as Heinz and McDonald’s.
Outside of his profession, Paul found joy in the many passions that shaped his life. He loved reading the Bible and living by its teachings. Weekends were often spent in the garage or out on the track, working on cars or racing them—one of his greatest lifelong pleasures. Music was a constant companion, as were the hobbies that connected him with family and friends: collecting guns, taking trips to the shooting range, and attending gun bashes. These moments provided him a sense of community, adventure, and fun that he cherished.
Paul is survived by his loving children, Pamela Wood and Bryan Wood, who will carry forward his values, memories, and the countless lessons he shared over the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mathilda (Benoit) Wood; his sisters, Joan (Wood) Hazard, Judy Wood, Joyce (Wood) Stonfer, and Linda (Wood) Tomlin; and his beloved wife, Linda (Stapel) Wood, with whom he shared a lifetime of love.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on February 21, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., with visiting hours from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Brandt Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to organizations close to Paul’s heart: the Light of Life Rescue Mission, the National Rifle Association, the American Heart Association, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
