It is with much sadness and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Peter J. Kovacs, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. Peter left this world peacefully on May 19, 2026, in the comfort of his home. Born on September 15, 1971, in Pittsburgh, PA, Peter lived his life to the fullest and was loved by all who knew him.
Peter was the devoted husband of Brenda (Barngrover), with whom he shared a happy and loving marriage of 29 years. Peter was the proud father of Samantha and Morgan Eichenberger, whose lives he filled with wisdom, humor, and love. His brother, Matthew Kovacs, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, will forever hold Peter's spirit close to their hearts. Peter is survived by his father George Kovacs and preceded in death by his mother Rhondda (Morgan) Kovacs, whose memory he cherished.
A graduate of North Catholic in Troy Hill, Peter's professional journey was marked by his dedication and versatility. He began his career at Jones Day Law Firm, where he worked for a decade. He then followed his passion for the outdoors by working for Wick Landscaping for many years. His career path eventually led him to the Edgeworth Borough, where he loved to work with the guys he called friends.
Peter was a man of many passions. An avid reader with an ever-curious mind, he found joy in collecting collectible toys and treasured the simple beauty of nature. His happiest moments were spent at friend's camps, gathering around campfires under starlit skies, listening to every kind of music imaginable. Peter's love for music was as eclectic as his spirit, reflecting his appreciation for the diversity and richness of life itself.
Those who knew Peter will remember him as the life of the party, a person who could light up any room with his warmth and infectious energy. He was a big teddy bear with a heart to match, known for his generosity, kindness, and readiness to lend a hand to anyone in need. His family and friends were his world and he loved them with every fiber of his being.
Peter's family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and hospice that have cared for him over the past year, their kindness will never be forgotten.
