Mr. Raymond C. Pfeifer

On Wednesday, May 16, 2012, age 91, of Millvale. Son of the late Edward J. and Catherine (Klaiber) Pfeifer; husband of 67 years to Jean (Wetzel) Pfeifer until her passing this past February; beloved father of Jeff Pfeifer (and his wife Maureen) and Diane Unkovic (and her husband Dennis); proud grandfather of Alexis Unkovic McKinley (Andrew), Kate Pfeifer, Peter Unkovic (Rachel) and Charlie Pfeifer; brother of the late Evelyn Matter and Edward J. Pfeifer, Jr. Friends received 12-4 and 6-8 p.m Sunday at the HEALY-HAHN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 512 Grnt Avenue, Millvale where services will be held Monday 10 a.m. Ray served his country honorably as a Pharmacist First Mate in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946 where he received the Victory Medal during the Asiatic Campaign Pacific. He then grduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1950. Working in the family business, he eventually became owner of the Pfeifer Funeral Home. Memberships include the Corinthian Lodge #573 Great Pittsburgh Masons (receiving his 32nd Degree in 1945), the Pittsburgh Athletic Assoc. (PAA), Christ Lutheran Church, Millvale VFW Post #118, Millvale Volunteer Fire Department and the Teutonia Mannerchor Club. Ray had a well-loved life and he leaves a legacy of quiet kindness and great humor. His one-liners will live on with family forever. Family suggests memorials to the Millvale Community Library, P.O.
