Robert R. "Boots" Meyer

Age 80, of Shaler, on March 31, 2016. Bob (Boots) is survived by his daughters, Andrea (John) Jordan, Karen (Bill) Frank, and Christine (Greg) Grabowski; proud Pap of Ryan (Caitlin), Caitlin, Madison, Wendell, Garrett, Reilly and Nicholas; his brother, Ralph (Elsie), sisters, Barbara Langan and Janet (the late Dr. William) Stept as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Joseph Meyer and Mercedes Seemiller Meyer and his brother Richard (Ruthann). Bob was a1953 graduate of North Catholic High School. He was a force: strong, smart and hard-working. He was a proud and well respected member of Steamfitters Local 449 for over 40 years. He touched so many with his quick wit and love of a good laugh or joke. He traveled the globe as an avid hunter and filled his den with numerous trophies including a grizzly bear, moose, rolled ram, caribou and elk. He won the Silver Bullet award for the mountain lion he shot in 1978. He loved to sit by his fire and enjoyed the occasional happy hour with his dear friends. His smile, laugh and heart-felt hugs will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Friends will be welcomed Saturday, 4-8 p.m. & Sunday, noon-7 p.m. at HEALY-HAHN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 512 Grant Ave., Millvale. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
