"The Patron Saint of the School Library Program:, 96 years young, of Ross Twp., on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Miss Davies, a woman who held many degrees, was on the faculty at numerous schools and worked on several National Education Programs; a true woman of vast knowledge. She believed that the school library should be a learning laboratory, where students, teachers and librarians plan and work together to program, broaden, deepen and extend learning across the curriculum; and that the librarian should be a teacher whose subject is learning itself. Some of her greatest achievements include working on the National Defense Education Act of 1958 and the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson in 1965. The significance of her life focused around her love for children - each and every one of them. She is survived by every child who had the privilege of knowing Miss Davies and will never forget her. At her request, burial is to be private. Arangements entrusted to the HEARD FUNERAL HOME, INC.
