Ruth M Gaber

Ruth M. Gaber, aged 93, of Ross Township in Pittsburgh, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Mercy Hospital after a brief and sudden illness. Ruth was an avid reader who also enjoyed travel, and many cultural activities, including art exhibits, symphony, opera, and live theater. She also loved nature, especially birds and flowers.

She started working at the age of 16 delivering telegrams for Western Union in downtown Pittsburgh with her best friend Marylou. She also worked at the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph newspaper where she met her husband, Albert. Finally, she spent 30 years as a sales associate at Macy’s until the age of 91!

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, siblings Albert, Edward, Dolores (Mackey), and Norman, as well as nieces Maureen (McMahon) and Carol (Nicklas). She is survived by her children; Susan and Michael, sister Armella (Opal), as well as nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are welcomed at the H. P. Brandt Funeral Home at 1032 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15237on Wednesday, December 15, from 2-4 and 6-8. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, December 16, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
