Age 79, Hampton Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 21st, surrounded by love and a circle of family and friends. She’s finally resting after a long, hard fight during two years filled with incredible doctors and home health support that allowed her many more priceless moments with her family. Sally was born January 14, 1942 in Pittsburgh to the late John and Martha (Hering) Tillotson, and was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Susie. She grew up in Boston and Charlotte, but returned to Pittsburgh after meeting the love of her life at Antioch College. She and Frank were married in 1964 and were active in the North Hills Jaycees and other community organizations where they formed priceless lifelong friendships before starting their family in 1979. Sally was an incredible, patient, and devoted mother to her daughters, Judy (Brandon) McAuley and Karen (Chris) Morrow; she also loved working for years both with Frank’s CPA clients, and at Caldon as their controller. Sally was an activist at heart; she was quiet and unassuming, uncomplicated and kind. She followed her mother-in-law’s legacy volunteering with the NCJW, and as an active gardener and treehugger at heart, she instilled a love of the earth and need to advocate for our environment in her children and grandchildren. Sally was composting and following the 3 R’s way before it was cool. She may have been late for everything else, but she always showed up to help however she could. Her heart was always on Baie Rouge beach in St. Maarten, where she and Frank traveled for over 40 years. They loved cooking and entertaining their friends and hosted legendary pig roasts over the years at their home. She cared selflessly for Frank, especially in the last years of his life, and shared a home with Judy and her family from the time of his death in 2017 until her own. Mimi will be missed dearly by her five grandchildren, Micah (12), Gavin (9), Ansel (4), Althea (4) and Sage (2). Judy and Karen hope that Sally’s beloved friends and family will join them for Sally’s Funeral on Sunday, July 25th at 10am, at West View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Earthjustice. Messages, memories and interest in memorial celebration details can be directed to [email protected]
