Stewart was so interesting, warm, quick-whittled, smart and enjoyable. Even though he had some difficulty hearing you at times, it was always worth speaking up to get his reply; never disappointed. His combination of intelligence, introspection and integrity was very rare, very invigorating. I value the wood-working pieces he made for us very highly. It’s hard to think of a world without him, but his relatives and friends now have another angel in heaven looking out for us.

Mr Paterson was able to live his life in a wonderful balance between an extraordinary career and being an exceptional family man.
So rare, so inspirational.

He was our elder statesman at Stonebrook Village who can never be replaced. He helped steer the community from the very beginning as a board member. His wisdom and guidance meant so much to all of us. Who will now send us those humorous brunch notices that we all looked forward to receiving? Being a true Scot , he told everyone that he was going to outlive the lifetime warranty on his pacemaker so he can get his moneys worth. It was just a joy to be around him. We will miss him deeply.
