W. "Bruce" Tenley, of Ross Township, died peacefully on July 2, 2021. He was surrounded by family including his beloved wife of 39 years (Barbara Miguelucci Tenley). Bruce was 90 years young. He was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania and was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Irene Tenley, and his brother, Glenn Tenley. He is survived by brothers Kenneth and Steven Tenley and four daughters: Susan Gilbert (Peter) of Colorado Springs, CO, Phyllis Trimble (Doug) of Allison Park, PA, Carolyn Andersen of Boalsburg, PA, and Barbara Samson (Scott) of Naperville, IL. He was also blessed by six adoring grandchildren: Megan Andersen, Ben Andersen (Lauren), Luke Trimble, Matthew Trimble, Henry Samson, and Tenley Samson.
Bruce led a fulfilling life that was driven by accomplishment and love for his family. His tireless work ethic originated on his parent’s farm, and through discipline and determination, he earned a football scholarship to become the first college graduate in his family. Upon graduation, Bruce served as a Marine Corps officer and proudly shared his stories about Camp Pendleton and Camp Fuji, Japan. His 35-year business career was in the oil and gas industry where he pioneered the gas station convenience store concept. Once he retired, he shifted his focus to perfecting his golf swing, cheering his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and PSU Nittany Lions, and maintaining the most pristine lawn in the tri-state area.
Bruce was an inquisitive and selfless man who had a genuine interest in others. Bruce’s love of competition and lifelong physical discipline brought him joy, whether attending his grandkids sporting events or keeping up with them in amusement park adventures well into his later years. Above all, Bruce was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He lived life to the fullest with his soulmate, and together they found joy and laughter every day.
He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. As per Bruce's wishes funeral services are private on Tuesday, July 6th 2021. Arrangements will be entrusted to HP Brandt's Funeral Home, 1032 Perry Highway, (412-364-4444). In lieu of flowers, his family asks for donations to be made in memory of Bruce to Orchard Hill Church, 2551 Brandt School Road, Wexford, PA 15090.
