William Winfield Hunter, Jr., age 101 years of McCandless Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Monday, June 11, 2018. He was the loving husband of seventy-one years to Catherine (Topper) Hunter; devoted father of W. James Hunter and his wife Marjorie of Franklin Park, Kathleen Warner and her husband Vincent of Canton, OH and Deborah J. Hunter of Franklin Park and her husband the late John Moore; proud Grandfather of Ian Hunter Moore of Franklin Park; brother of Jean Cornell of Gibsonia and the late Rebecca Hunter of Pittsburgh. Son of the late Bertha (Reed) and William Winfield Hunter, Sr. Bill served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He then attended Carnegie Tech where he studied and became a Professional (Mechanical) Engineer. During his career, he worked with the Dravo Corporation for thirty-five years where he acted as Senior Manager and Chief Mechanical Engineer, allowing him to manage projects globally. Apart from his professional activities, he was a lover of literature and the arts, a writer in his own right, an amateur wine maker and a jazz aficionado. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 14, 2018, from 2-4 & 6-8 Pm at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Inc., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Township, (412-364-4444), where funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018, at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Allegheny County Memorial Park.
